British Sign Language

Introduction

This intensive course will enable participants with little or no experience of BSL to acquire practical communication skills and knowledge about Deaf Culture, environment and daily living aids and organizations for deaf people.

The course is structured to enable participants to attain two levels of achievement.

Foundation Course

Students gain valuable examination experience from the Foundation Certificate Assessment after completing 30 hours (4 days) training in BSL and Total Communication. To gain a pass, participants will be assessed on their ability to:

Stage 1 Examination

Following the Foundation Course a further 30 hours (4 days) training is required to complete the CACDP Stage 1 Curriculum. (CACDP : Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People)
