IOSH Managing Safely Online e-learning Package

Introduction

RMS Publishing have developed an updated e-learning package in line with the IOSH Managing Safely v.3.1 syllabus.
The package is divided into individual ‘Modules’ to mirror the IOSH syllabus and each element has its own index, which references the syllabus content headings.

Comprises of the following Modules:

  • Module 1 – Introducing managing safely
  • Module 2 – Assessing risks
  • Module 3 – Controlling risks
  • Module 4 – Understanding your responsibilities
  • Module 5 – Identifying hazards
  • Module 6 – Investigating accidents and incidents
  • Module 7 – Measuring performance
  • Module 8 – Protecting our environment

Users are easily able to move between the different modules with the buttons being clearly labelled and visible; they may also go back over the pages of information for further reference.

The active time spent in each of the elements is timed by the application and is accessible by the user so that progress can be monitored against the recommended study hours.

Each module includes:

  • Active time management - Tracks and records study time within the materials, exercises and assessments. Coupled with the study schedule helps delegates manage their time and achieve their targets.
  • Learning outcomes - An overview of the module and what is expected to be learnt.
  • Learning materials - Core learning pdfs/videos, sources of reference and associated legislation.
  • Learning exercises - Multiple choice. Tests understanding and knowledge of the materials.
  • Main learning points - Identifies the main points delegates should know in readiness for the assessment.

NEW - Unit exercises: Three new types of interactive learning exercises

  • Drag and Drop - Interactive exercise involves completion of the definitions, images and categories.
  • Risk assessment - Tests delegates' ability to conduct the fives stages of a risk assessment, including: identifying hazardous locations, equipment and substances and activities and determining the risks, controls and any monitoring required.
  • Workplace Assessment - Requires delegates to identify the potential hazards within the workplace and then select the risk they cause and identify any appropriate controls to reduce the risk.

Dynamic features:

  • Study schedule - 10 Week study plan that includes step by step instructions, an interactive time table and assessment preparation.
  • Personal history - Tracks all exercises and study time broken down by module.
  • Student notes - Create and print notes with full formatting options.
  • Relevant statutory provisions.

Assessment preparation:

  • Mock assessment - Delegates are able to attempt five short mock assessment exercises (consisting of 10 multiple choice questions and marked automatically with feedback). Practice at the mock assessment exercises offers excellent preparation for final assessment success.
  • Examination ONLINE

Resources and Support:

  • Fully supported by an introduction, help, FAQ, technical and tutor support messaging system.
  • Includes a host of resources including; final assessment procedures, syllabus and useful links.
