Working with Children Who Exhibit Severe Challenging Behaviour
Introduction
This course is designed for Residential Workers, Paediatric Nurses and
Teachers, who come into contact with children who present challenging or
dangerous behaviour.
Aims & Objectives
Participants are given the opportunity to learn techniques which may be used
when children are at risk of causing harm to themselves or others. Emphasis is
placed on good child care practice.

- Causation of Behaviour (if required)
- Non-physical Strategies for Dealing with Threats and Intimidation
- Breakaway Techniques
- Holding Techniques
- Legal Issues Relating to the Care and Control of Children
- Recording Incidents
Course Duration
This course can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the group and can
be of one to three days duration.
